My guys have given me a wonderful big Valentinecard - carefully changing the 'I' in 'We' and 'my' in 'our'. I love them. I've send them an electronic card. For the rest the day will be as normal as possible, HMM has his billiard club tonight, I'm in a meeting in my BIL's home and Kees will join me there to do some things with computers for some of the other people there.

BIL pulled a nice trick today. I got a phonecall around 11am from the place where he works on Thursdays. His coworker very carefully worded her worries: he wasn't there and he didn't answer his home phone and his cell phone was off. Luckily I knew that today he starts a new job. He'll be concierge in a new huge appartmentbuilding down town. Starting with one day a week, as of today. He's been all over it the last few weeks, with the main concern that we will not let my MIL think that in any way this work is remotely similar to 'a cleaning job' (he and I have no clue to what is wrong with a cleaning job, but she is furious with the thought alone that it might be). And he's told everybody. I mean EVERYBODY. Except the person who really needed to know I guess.

Coming home by plane yesterday. Urged the men to both be there this time, because the last time I flew in only Kees was there. HMM was still putting away the car, because I was early and they were late (yes I know who had said there was plenty of time, but I'm not telling on them).

This time only HMM was there, but there was a text message from Kees the moment I put my cell phone on, saying that he wouldn't be there because he was in bed with a fever. HMM had insisted on calling the night doctor on monday even, because he was running a temp up to 103 and for Kees that is very high. They couldn't decide whether it was erysipelas again. He has had problems with his knee and upper leg which seems to be a bursitis or a tendonitis. But yesterday his nose developed into something a longterm spirit drinker would be very proud of, with a huge red spot going on to his right cheek. So now we knew for certain that is was erysipelas again (the first time he had it, was on his forehead).

You simply can't leave them alone can you?

It must have some meaning or Murphy is deeply involved, but from the moment I obtained a permanent LJ-membership I haven’t posted and hardly kept up with reading friends’ entries. RL was so busy that I skipped nearly all my newsgroups, got way behind on mailinglists and LJ had to be put on hold as well.

At the end of the year I can look back at (again) a very busy year.

If you’re interested in a little catching up, it’s behind the cut.

And then, in five weeks time, I will go to APC16 in Vegas! My flight is booked and paid, my room is booked and I have a roommate for three or four nights. I’m really looking forward to my trip.

For the mean time I'd like to wish all my friends a merry christmas!
