Yesterday we went to the neurologist to get the results of the MRI-scan for Kees' leg.
The result was that I walked out and next time we will have a different neurologist.
The scan showed that there are no nerves blocked in his back.
And the doctor? He must go see an ophtalmologist. Maybe he can be cured from his tunnel vision.
The only thing he sees as a solution is for Kees to lose 50 lbs. And his pants are too tight. If we tell him that Kees is hardly ever wearing pants atm, and then mostly jogging pants, he shrugs and says: lose 50 lbs.
If I ask him if he can point out at wich point he thinks this nerve is blocked, he waves his hand in the general direction of Kees and says: lose 50 lbs.
If we tell him that on the web we can not find any nerve blockings like this related to overweight, he tells us that the internet is all rubbish and nonsense and that people with tingling legs don't come to see a neurologist often. If Kees tells him that it's not tingling but pain: lose 50 lbs. Last time I told him that Kees was in a lot of pain, constantly, 24 hrs a day, even with 3x 225 mg Lyrica a day and that his pain treshold is pretty high, he told me that pain for him was no issue. Lose 50 lbs.
But so much Lyrica is not helpful, less will help as well. No, Kees says: I really find that I have less pain if I take three or four lyrica's (225 or 300 mg). Less than with 2. Shrug: lose 50 lbs.
By that time I tell him that losing 50 lbs will not be achieved in three weeks. He shrugs and looks and by the look on his face I can see that we are both to blame ourselves for being overweighted. I ask him what we can do for the pain in the meantime. Lose 50 lbs. Yes. We know. He says: take more meds. I say: but you just said that more meds won't help. He says: I can prescribe something else. I say: if that is the same as you prescribed last time, they didn't help. He looks in the status, but he forgot what he prescribed last time and he didn't note it and we don't know it either.
This is about when I walked out.
Kees will get a new neurologist. And of course the meds this one prescribed were the same he prescribed last time. The ones that didn't help.
But I know what to do against the pain: lose 50 lbs. |
